Before I met Heather, I had come across quite a few editors. I wasn’t happy with any of them. On more than one occasion my book was riddled with errors and being a fan of my work, Heather let me know about them because that’s just the kind of person she is. She likes to pay attention to detail. That attention to detail is exactly what she will bring to your manuscript. She will not disappoint. I feel like Heather is the kind of editor I’ve been looking for these last two years. The attention to story-line detail, the in-depth breakdown of your book, how it flows or how it doesn’t, character discrepancies, all of it she will bring to your awareness. Let’s face it, we all need those extra eyes and we all want our work to be as tight as possible when hitting the shelves. Heather delivers that. I won’t go to another editor because after the edit she gave me, I won’t be satisfied anywhere else. 5 thumbs up!

Thank you so much for your editing and feedback on Ink, it was extremely kind and helpful!
I particularly appreciated your comments on the use of ellipses - I definitely cut it out of all dialogue from the more “badass” characters because I think you’re right that they wouldn’t speak with any hint of hesitation.
Thank you again!

The editing process is an in-depth and fulfilling venture. It is critical that the writer and the editor have a strong relationship based on trust and mutual enthusiasm. This is really the first place Heather Leigh shined. I was immediately struck by her connection to my work and understanding of the thematic goals, genuine understanding of my characters, and how my extremely complex timelines worked together.
After each editing session we would talk and then I would spend several weeks rewriting old scenes and creating new text to complete the upgrades to the novel. We texted almost daily and had a long conversation about the next steps after the completion of each rewrite and edit.
She found the organizational structure which allowed the most impact on the reader. I started with a titled chapter structure. Each chapter stretched 30-40 pages. She suggested we swap that structure out for a shorter one. Heather changed the structure to shorter, numbered chapters which maxed out at ten pages. This had the effect of further streamlining the book and speeding up the plot – which in some places lumbered along.
Heather completed a last proofread and delivered an exceptionally edited novel of which I am very proud.
